Visa Guide
1. International students are required to hold X1 or X2 visa to enter China. The students who come to study for 180 days or more are required to hold X1 visa, which applies to degree students. Language students, exchange students and visiting students are required to hold X2 visa.
2. The X1 visa is only valid for 30 days after your first entry. Please apply for a residence permit with relevant documents within 30 days following the instructions here: https://ipo.wh.sdu.edu.cn/enistudy/info/1005/2033.htm. If the X1 visa expires, the residence would be illegal.
3. The expiry date of X2 visa is subject to the date indicated on the visa (normally 150 days), it will become invalid after exit.
Other notes:
1.International students MUST register residence again within 24 hours when they change residence, passport, visa or residence permit, exit and enter China, leave Weihai and come back to Weihai, etc. Failure to register residence within 24 hours shall be given a warning and be fined RMB 2000.
2. Every foreigner must have a valid passport and visa/residence permit to stay in China. Please ensure your passport and visa/residence permit do not expire. The foreigner shall either apply for extension or leave China prior to the expiry of the duration.
3. According to the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People’s Republic of China, foreigners who reside in China illegally shall be given a warning; and if the circumstances are serious, they shall be fined RMB 500 per day, with a cap of RMB 10,000 in total, or be detained for not less than 5 days but not more than 15 days.
